Hardiness Personality pada Ibu yang Memiliki Anak Leukemia

Abstract: This study aims to determine the personality hardiness in mother who have children with leukemia and find out the factors that influence the hardiness personality. Subjects in this study were two mothers who have children with leukemia, a disease that lasted a minimum of six months from being tested positive as a leukemia patient. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The data collection uses semi-structured interviews.  The results of the study were analyzed using content analysis.  To meet the data credibility requirements, researchers used data source triangulation.The results show that the subject has aspects of hardiness personality, namely commitment, challenge, and control so that they are able to face the various demands of life that must be met as mother who have children with leukemia. Hardiness personality has a role in dealing with problems of mothers of the children with leukemia so that the subjects are able to deal with and survive the problems that occur as opportunities to develop, and believe that the situation can be influenced by the experience they have. Factors that influence hardiness personality in this study are parenting factors, mastery of experience factors, warm or supportive relationships, and religiosity. The conclusion of this study is that both subjects have a strong enough hardiness personality to quickly adjust to stressful situations. Both have aspects that construct  hardiness personality, namely commitment, challenge, and control.  In addition, there are some factors that complement the personality hardiness; experience factors, parenting parents, warm or supportive relationships, and religiosity.
