Abstract:

This study aims to determine the effect of mathematics communicationskills on learning achievement in the cognitive aspects of the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 08 and SD Negeri 10, Gantung District. This study uses a quantitative research approach withresearch ex-post facto. The population in this study were 53 students of class V SD Negeri 08 and SD Negeri 10 Gantung District with 45 samples. The variables studied were mathematics communication skills (Variable X) and learning achievement (Variable Y). Data collection techniques in this study used tests that have been tested for validity and reliability. Hypothesis testing used simple linear regression analysis and Pearson correlation with the help of the SPSS version 24 program. The results of the study were processed using a simple linear regression test and Pearson correlation test showed that mathematics communication had a significant effect on student cognitive achievement, this was indicated by a sig less from 0.05 which is equal to 0.00 with a simple linear regression equation Y = -0.764 + 0.967X. For Pearson Correlation, it is obtained for 0.806 so that when viewed from the existing guidelines for the degree of relationship, the pearson correlation is very strongly correlated. Based on this, it can be concluded that the ability to communicate mathematics has an effect on the cognitive aspects of students’ learning achievement with a strong correlation degree.
