Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to improve student learning outcomes in mathematics subject matter speed and discharge class V SD Muhammadiyah Kalipakem I. There were 36 students consisting of 19 girls and 17 boys. The ability of students in solving speed and discharge problems is still much below the predetermined KKM, namely 75. This research is a classroom action research consisting of two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. This research was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah Kalipakem I with the research subjects of grade V students. Data collection techniques in this study used tests, observation and documentation. The instruments used were the pretest and posttest questions. Data analysis was performed using quantitative model analysis, namely by comparing the results of the pre-cycle, the results of cycle I, and cycle II. The indicator of success in this study is 80% of students complete with a KKM ≥75. The results showed that the application of the PBL model could improve student learning outcomes on the speed and discharge material. There was an increase in the class average value from 69.83 in the pre-cycle to 70.42 in the first cycle and 77.78 in the second cycle. The number of students who completed increased from 13 students (36.11%) in the pre-cycle to 22 students (61.11%) in the first cycle and 34 students (88.89%) who completed in the second cycle. This research is successful because it has reached an indicator of success, namely 80% of students complete with a KKM ≥ 75.
