Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of interest rates, inflation, gross domestic product, and corporate tax rate on the capital structure of food and beverage companies in 2014-2018. This research is a descriptive quantitative research. The study population is all food and beverage companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the 2014-2018 period with a total of 26 companies. The sample selection is determined by purposive sampling technique with the criteria used as samples are companies that publish their financial statements during consecutive research years, and companies that have positive profits in their financial statements, so that a sample of 13 companies is obtained. This study uses statistical tools panel data regression analysis. The results of this study use the variable Interest Rates, Inflation, Gross Domestic Product, and Corporate Tax Rate on capital structure. Having the variable Interest Rates, has a negative effect on the capital structure while Inflation, Gross Domestic Product, and Corporate Tax Rate variables have a positive effect on the capital structure. With a R Squared value of 92.22% which explains the effect on capital structure.
